Sitting on a blanket and watching his 3-year-old grandson Brian Paladin munch Gummy Bears, Ed Scheiber said he and his family would spend most of Sunday at Central Park in Oak Forest.
"Our whole family comes every year," he said. "We bring the kids and the grandkids."
His wife plays bingo and the little ones enjoy the games, said Scheiber, of Alsip.
"There are six grandkids now," he said.
Granddaughter Gracie Paladin, 5, joined her brother and grandfather on the blanket.
Petting the animals at the petting zoo was her favorite part, Gracie said.
"Brian's favorite part is eating Gummy Bears," Scheiber said with a chuckle.
Brian told a visitor, "Gracie's going to kindergarten. Now."
He added that green is his favorite color Gummy bear and he goes to the "Tiger school."
Their mom, Mary Paladin, of Oak Forest, said that Brian attends preschool at Oak Forest High School, which has a Bengal for a mascot, so he calls it the Tiger school.
